Road Safety Reminder for the week of September 1-7, 2025

Use Your Headlights

  • Any time conditions (clouds, rain, dust, smoke, fog, etc.) prevent you from seeing other vehicles
  • In darkness and when visibility does not allow clear recognition of a person or vehicle from a distance of 500 feet
  • When the vehicle is operated from sunset to sunrise
  • When a regulatory (white) road sign is posted stating headlights must be on
  • To increase your vehicle's visibility to others while driving – even on bright days and especially when the sun is low on the horizon

Guam Construction Update for the week of September 1-7, 2025

Motorists are advised to drive cautiously through the construction zones, observe all posted speed limit and construction signs, and carefully heed flaggers (when present). Alternate routes and/or adjusting drive times when feasible are encouraged.

 

Islandwide Primary Roads Paving and Pavement Markings TO-4

Route 10

Construction activities will continue along Route 10, between the Route 4 and Route 32 inter-sections from August 1–6, 2025. There will be intermittent lane closures between 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM Monday-Friday and 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM Saturday.

Motorists are advised to expect traffic delays, exercise caution when traveling through the work zone, and be alert for uneven pavement surfaces and temporary steel plates.

No construction activities are scheduled for Sunday, September 7, 2025.

 

Route 4 Paving – Malesso'

The DPW contractor will continue milling and paving Route 4 from the Merizo Bell Tower to Hemlani Apartments between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM Tuesday-Friday, weather permitting. The DPW asks motorists to please proceed with caution and remain alert for traffic control signs and work crews.

 

Route 27 (Harmon Loop) Grass Cutting - Dededo

The DPW HMC crew will be grass cutting Route 27 (Harmon Loop), weather permitting. Work will occur between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM Tuesday - Friday. The DPW asks motorists to please proceed with caution and remain alert for traffic control signs and work crews.

 

Route 28 (Y Sengsong Road) Grass Cutting - Dededo

The DPW HMC crew will be grass cutting Route 28 (Y Sengsong Road), weather permitting. Work will occur between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM Tuesday - Friday. The DPW asks motorists to please proceed with caution and remain alert for traffic control signs and work crews.

 

Islandwide Grass Cutting Maintenance Project

The DPW contractor will be grass cutting at the following locations between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, weather permitting:

  • Monday, 8/25/25: Route 17, Cross Island Road
  • Tuesday, 8/26/25: Route 10 (Barrigada/Mangilao/Chalan Pago)
  • Wednesday, 8/27/25 - Thursday, 8/28/25: Route 1, Marine Corps Dr
  • Thursday, 8/28/25 - Friday, 8/29/25: Route 15 (Yigo/Mangilao)
  • Friday, 8/30/25: Route 3 (NCTS, Dededo)

The DPW asks motorists to please proceed with caution and remain alert for traffic control signs and work crews.
