Road Safety Reminder for the week of March 16-22, 2026

Sun Glare

To help manage sun glare:

  • Keep the inside and outside of your windshield clean.

  • Maintain enough space between your vehicle and the vehicles around you.

  • Make sure your car visor works and is free of anything that would restrict use.

  • Be aware of pedestrians. You may have difficulty seeing them.

  • Try to avoid driving during sunrise and sunset.

Guam Construction Update for the week of March 16-22, 2026

Motorists are advised to drive cautiously through the construction zones, observe all posted speed limit and construction signs, and carefully heed flaggers (when present). Alternate routes and/or adjusting drive times when feasible are encouraged.

 

Islandwide Primary Roads Paving and Pavement Markings TO-4

Route 10

Construction activities will continue along Route 10 from March 16, 2026 to March 21, 2026. Contractor crews will be working at various locations along Route 10 throughout the week. Intermittent lane closures in both directions are expected during work hours:

  • Monday–Friday, March 15–20, 2026, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.,(Between Route 32 and Pay-less for pavement striping)

  • Monday–Friday, March 15–20, 2026, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.,(Route 10/ route 4 intersec-tion for pavement repair) - Tentative

  • Saturday, March 21, 2026, 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Route 15/ Route 10 intersection for milling and paving) - Tentative

  • Sunday, March 22, 2026, No Work Scheduled. Work may be performed 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. if needed

Motorists are advised to expect traffic delays and plan their travel time accordingly. Please slow down and comply with posted speed limits when traveling through the work zone. Remain alert for uneven pavement surfaces and temporary steel plates, and drive safely at all times.

 

Route 4 Replacement of Ylig Bridge (Phase 2) – Ylig Memorial

General construction activities will continue for the Ylig Memorial Project. These activities will not affect the flow of traffic.

The contractor, Korando Corporation, will be working from 7:00 AM till 4:00 PM on weekdays only. No construction activities are scheduled for Saturdays and Sundays.

 

Primary Roads Pavement Pothole Repair for Route 17, Yona

Samsung E&C America's contractor will continue repairs along Route 17, Cross Island Road from the Route 17/Route 4A intersection to the Yona Solar Project Site. Work will occur between 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM Monday - Friday. There will be intermittent lane closures in both directions during work hours.

 

Route 1/Route 10A Warped Pavement Repair – Tamuning

The Guam Department of Public Works (DPW) Highway Division is coordinating with the Guam Waterworks Authority (GWA) to address warped pavement at the intersection of Route 1 and Route 10A (Airport Road near the Don Don Donki parking lot). Repair work will be conducted during evening hours to minimize traffic disruptions and is expected to commence at 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2026. to 5:00 a.m., Thursday, March 19, 2026.

 

DPW HMC Grass Cutting

The DPW HMC crew will be grass cutting at the following locations, weather permitting:

  • Bush cutting Route 4 in Chalan Pago-Ordot, heading towards Ylig Bridge

  • Side cutting Route 4 in Malesso

Work will occur between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM Monday - Friday.

 

Islandwide Grass Cutting Maintenance Project

The DPW contractor will be grass cutting at the following locations, weather permitting:

  • Monday, 3/16/26 – Tuesday, 3/17/26: Route 16, Army Drive (Harmon/Barrigada) & Route 8, Purple Heart Memorial Highway (Barrigada/MTM)

  • Tuesday, 3/17/26 – Thursday, 3/19/26: Route 10, Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway (Barrigada/Mangilao/Chalan Pago)

  • Thursday, 3/19/26 – Saturday, 3/21/26: Route 6 (Asan-Maina/Piti) & Route 7 (Agana Heights)

Work will occur between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. The DPW asks motorists to please proceed with caution and remain alert for traffic control signs and work crews.
