Appropriate Speed

The posted speed limit is the MAXIMUM speed you can legally drive under ideal driving conditions. Your speed should depend on the posted speed limit, road conditions, and weather. The faster your vehicle is going, the more distance it will take to turn, slow, or stop. For example, a vehicle traveling 60 mph will travel 3 times further than a vehicle traveling 30 mph before coming to a stop.

Guam Construction Update for the week of July 27 - August 2, 2026

Motorists are advised to drive cautiously through the construction zones, observe all posted speed limit and construction signs, and carefully heed flaggers (when present). Alternate routes and/or adjusting drive times when feasible are encouraged.

Islandwide Primary Roads Paving and Pavement Markings TO-4 Route 10

Construction activities will continue along Route 10 from July 27, 2026 to August 2, 2026. Contractor crews will be working at various locations within the intersection throughout the week. Intermittent lane closures in both directions are expected during work hours:

Monday to Friday, July 27, 2026 – July 31 2026, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

• Loop Sensor installation at Corten Torres/ Route 10 intersection
• Pavement marking at Route 15/ Route 10 intersection

Saturday, August 01 , 2026, No Work Scheduled

Sunday, August 02, 2026, No Work Scheduled

Motorists are advised to expect traffic delays and plan their travel time accordingly. Please use al-ternate routes and follow posted detour signs. Reduce speed and comply with posted limits when passing through the work zone. Remain alert for uneven pavement surfaces and temporary steel plates, and proceed with caution at all times.

Islandwide Safety Improvement on Primary Roads (Striping and Marking) TO-03 - Route 1, from Route 27 to AAFB

Construction activities will continue along Route 1, from July 27, 2026 to July 31, 2026. Contractor crews will be working at various locations along this area of Route 1 throughout the week and intermittent lane closures in both directions are expected during work hours:

• Monday to Friday July 27 to July 31, 2026, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM, (between Hafa adai Market to Anderson Air Force Base), Install pavement markings and markers)
• Saturday, August 01, 2026, No Work Scheduled
• Sunday, August 02, 2026, No Work Scheduled

Route 17 Cross Island Road Improvements – Santa Rita/Yona

Road construction activities along Route 17 are underway and will continue over the coming months. Multiple contractor crews may be working at various locations throughout the project limits. Intermittent lane closures in either direction should be expected during work hours.

Power Pole Installation – Samsung E&C America

Route 17 between Route 5 and Route 4A

Motorists are advised of intermittent lane closures in both directions along Route 17 (Cross Island Road) between Route 5 and Route 4A as Samsung E&C America continues power pole installation. This work is expected to continue over the coming weeks.

Please drive with caution through the work zone, observe posted signage, and expect possible delays.

Typhoon Bavi Debris Clean Up - Route 2 (Umatac) to Route 4 (Merizo)

The DPW HMC crew will be cleaning up Typhoon Bavi debris from Route 2 (Umatac) to Route 4 (Meri-zo). There may be intermittent lane closures. The DPW asks motorists to please proceed with caution and remain alert for traffic control signs and work crews.
