Road Safety Reminder for the week of January 19 - 25, 2026

Emergency Vehicles

Upon the approach of an authorized emergency vehicle (ambulance, police, fire equipment, civil defense, explosive ordinance, etc.) that is sounding a siren and/or displaying flashing red or blue lights, all highway users must yield the right-of-way (Motor Vehicle Code of Guam Section 3333).

  1. The operators of all other vehicles shall yield the right-of-way and shall immediately drive to a position parallel to, and as close as possible to, the right-hand edge or curb of the highway clear of any intersection and thereupon stop and remain in such position until such authorized emergency vehicle has passed, except when otherwise directed by a police officer.

  2. All pedestrians upon the highway shall remain in a place of safety until such authorized emergency vehicle has passed, except when otherwise directed by a police officer.

Guam Construction Update for the week of January 19 - 25, 2026

Motorists are advised to drive cautiously through the construction zones, observe all posted speed limit and construction signs, and carefully heed flaggers (when present). Alternate routes and/or adjusting drive times when feasible are encouraged.

 

Islandwide Primary Roads Paving and Pavement Markings TO-4 Route 10

Construction activities will continue along Route 10. Intermittent lane closures in both direc-tions are expected during work hours:

  • Monday–Friday, 1/19/2026 – 1/23/2026: 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

  • Saturday–Sunday, 1/24/2026 – 1/25/2026: 7:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.

 

Locations:

Contractor crews will be working at various locations along Route 10 throughout the week. Pri-mary areas between Joleen St and Payless.

Motorists are advised to expect traffic delays and plan their travel time accordingly. Please slow down and comply with posted speed limits when traveling through the work zone. Remain alert for uneven pavement surfaces and temporary steel plates, and drive safely at all times.

 

Route 4 Replacement of Ylig Bridge (Phase 2) – Ylig Memorial

General construction activities will continue for the Ylig Memorial Project. These activities will not affect the flow of traffic.

The contractor, Korando Corporation, will be working from 7:00 AM till 4:00 PM on weekdays only. No construction activities are scheduled for Saturdays and Sundays.

 

Islandwide Grass Cutting Maintenance Project

The DPW contractor will be grass cutting at the following locations, weather permitting:

  • Monday, 1/19/26: Route 10, Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway (Barrigada/Mangilao/Chalan Pago)

  • Tuesday, 1/20/26 – Wednesday, 1/21/26: Route 6 (Asan-Maina/Piti) & Route 7 (Agana Heights)

  • Wednesday, 1/21/26 – Friday, 1/23/26: Route 1, Marine Corps Dr

  • Saturday, 1/24/26: Route 17, Cross Island Road (Santa Rita-Sumai/Yona)

Work will occur between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

 

DPW HMC Grass Cutting

The DPW HMC crew will be grass cutting the following locations, weather permitting:

  • Roadside maintenance bush cutting from Route 2A, Apaca Point(Hagat) to Route 1, Polaris (Piti)

  • Roadside maintenance bush cutting Route 1 from Polaris (Piti) to Adelup

  • Side cutting Route 4, Yona starting from Ylig River, working towards Talofofo

  • Side cutting Route 34 heading towards Two Lovers Point

Work will occur between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM Tuesday - Friday.

 

Route 4 Paving from the Tinago River Bridge to Belen Avenue

Road asphalt resurfacing continues on Route 4 northbound from the Tinago River Bridge to Belen Avenue. Work will occur between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. There will be intermittent lane closures.

 

Guam Wall Mural and Hagatna Wall Mural Maintenance – East Agana

On Saturday, 1/24/26 from 7:00 am – 5:00 pm, the Islandwide Beautification Task Force will be waterblasting the Guam Wall Mural and the Hagatna Wall Mural. Motorists are advised of lane closures along the outer northbound lane of Route 1, Marine Corps Drive from East Island Tinting to Vince Jewelers.

 

Route 7 Asphalt Pavement Restoration

GTA’s contractor will be paving Route 7 from the Naval Station Entrance to Triangle Park from Wednesday, 1/21/26 to Saturday, 1/24/26. Work will occur between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM on weekdays and between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM on weekends. There will be intermittent lane clo-sures.
