TRAFFIC LAWS – RULES OF THE ROAD: The Driver's Observance of the Law
- COMPLIANCE with TRAFFIC LAWS and ORDINANCES
Drivers are required by law to comply with Guam traffic laws as set forth in the Guam Vehicle Code. Exceptions may arise when a traffic officer or policeman gives orders that conflict with traffic laws or ordinances. In such cases, the officer’s directions must be complied with.- COMPLIANCE with ORDERS of TRAFFIC and POLICE OFFICERS and FIREMEN
Any traffic direction or signal by a traffic or police officer or a fireman on duty must be complied with. To meet a special situation or emergency, an officer may give orders that conflict with traffic laws or ordinances. In such cases, the officer’s orders have priority.- COMPLIANCE with OFFICIAL SIGNS, SIGNALS and MARKINGS
Directions, controls, and limits indicated by all official traffic signs, signals, and markings must be observed. Exceptions may arise when an officer gives directions to meet a special situation or emergency. Guam Construction Update
Motorists are advised to drive cautiously through the construction zones, observe all posted speed limit and construction signs, and carefully heed flaggers (when present). Alternate routes and/or adjusting drive times when feasible are encouraged.
Route 1 Resurfacing from Route 30 to Route 10A – Tamuning
From 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday, 6/6/22 to Friday, 6/10/22, motorists are advised there will be lane shifts and intermittent lane closures on Route 1 for southbound and northbound traffic between Route 30 (Governor Carlos G. Camacho Road) and 10A (Airport Road).
From 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM Saturday, 6/11/22 and Sunday, 6/12/22, there will be lane shifts and intermittent lane closures on Route 1 for southbound and northbound traffic between Route 30 (Governor Carlos G. Camacho Road) and 10A (Airport Road).
Route 4 Striping and Marking from Route 1 to Route 10 – Chalan Pago-Ordot
Motorists are advised that there will be lane shifts and intermittent lane closures at the Route 4 / Route 15 intersection and near Our Lady of Peace Church from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday, 6/6/22 – Friday, 6/10/22, weather permitting.
Route 28 Rehabilitation from Route 1 to Bumuchachu Street – Dededo
Motorists are advised that there will be lane shifts and intermittent lane closures along Route 28 (Y Sengsong) between West Santa Barbara Avenue and Bumuchachu Street from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM Monday, 6/6/22 – Friday, 6/10/22.
Murray Boulevard Parking Stall Striping – Hågatña
From 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM on Tuesday, 6/7/22 and Wednesday, 6/8/22, the parking stalls along Murray Blvd (Skinner Plaza, Post Office side) will be restriped as a project of the 2022 National Summer Transportation Institute funded in partnership with the Department of Public Works and Guam Community College. We ask motorists to drive with caution in this area and seek alternate parking sites.
