Road Safety Reminder for the Week

TRAFFIC LAWS – RULES OF THE ROAD: The Driver's Observance of the Law

  1. COMPLIANCE with TRAFFIC LAWS and ORDINANCES
    Drivers are required by law to comply with Guam traffic laws as set forth in the Guam Vehicle Code. Exceptions may arise when a traffic officer or policeman gives orders that conflict with traffic laws or ordinances. In such cases, the officer’s directions must be complied with.
  2. COMPLIANCE with ORDERS of TRAFFIC and POLICE OFFICERS and FIREMEN
    Any traffic direction or signal by a traffic or police officer or a fireman on duty must be complied with. To meet a special situation or emergency, an officer may give orders that conflict with traffic laws or ordinances. In such cases, the officer’s orders have priority.
  3. COMPLIANCE with OFFICIAL SIGNS, SIGNALS and MARKINGS
    Directions, controls, and limits indicated by all official traffic signs, signals, and markings must be observed. Exceptions may arise when an officer gives directions to meet a special situation or emergency. In such cases, the officer’s orders must be complied.

Guam Construction Update

Motorists are advised to drive cautiously through the construction zones, observe all posted speed limit and construction signs, and carefully heed flaggers (when present). Alternate routes and/or adjusting drive times when feasible are encouraged.
 

Route 1 Resurfacing from Route 30 to Route 10A – Tamuning

From 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday, 6/13/22 to Friday, 6/17/22, motorists are advised there will be lane shifts and intermittent lane closures on Route 1 for southbound and northbound traffic between Route 30 (Governor Carlos G. Camacho Road) and Route 10A (Airport Road).

From 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM Saturday, 6/18/22 and Sunday, 6/19/22, there will be lane shifts and intermittent lane closures on Route 1 for southbound and northbound traffic between Route 30 (Governor Carlos G. Camacho Road) and Route 10A (Airport Road), and the outer lane of Route 10A (Airport Road) at the Circle K / 76 service station.
 

Route 4 Striping and Marking from Route 1 to Route 10 – Chalan Pago-Ordot/Sinajana

Motorists are advised that there will be lane shifts and intermittent lane closures at the Route 4 / Route 15 (Mai Mai Road) and Route 4 / Route 24 (Sinajana) intersections from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday, 6/13/22 – Friday, 6/17/22, weather permitting.
 

Route 28 Rehabilitation from Route 1 to Bumuchachu Street – Dededo

Motorists are advised that there will be lane shifts and intermittent lane closures along Route 28 from Route 1 to West San Antonio Avenue and from the DPW Coral Pit to Bumuchachu Street from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM Monday, 6/13/22 – Friday, 6/17/22.
 

Islandwide Village Street Pavement Resurfacing – Ipan, Talofofo

The DPW contractor will be paving in Ipan Talofofo from 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM Monday - Wednesday. While the exact locations to be paved on those days have yet to be determined, we encourage residents along the streets to exercise caution. The following sections of road will be paved as part of the project:

  1. Okso Antonio B. Duenas St.
  2. Cruz Heights
  3. Dondei Road
  4. Pacha Road

There will be intermittent lane closures.
