Road Safety Reminder for the Week

THE RIGHT OF WAY RULE: Emergency Vehicles
Upon the approach of an authorized emergency vehicle (ambulance, police, fire equipment, civil defense, explosive ordinance, etc.) that is sounding a siren and/or displaying flashing red or blue lights, all highway users must yield the right-of-way (Motor Vehicle Code of Guam Section 3333).

  1. The operators of all other vehicles shall yield the right-of-way and shall immediately drive to a position parallel to, and as close as possible to, the right-hand edge or curb of the highway clear of any intersection and thereupon stop and remain in such position until such authorized emergency vehicle has passed, except when otherwise directed by a police officer.
  2. All pedestrians upon the highway shall remain in a place of safety until such authorized emergency vehicle has passed, except when otherwise directed by a police officer.


 

Guam Construction Update

Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously through all construction zones, observe all posted speed limit and construction signs, and carefully heed to flaggers. Alternative routes and/or adjusting drive times when feasible are encouraged.
 

Route 3 Widening

Construction activities are ongoing along Route 3 from just north of Route 28 to Potts Junction.Motorists are advised to drive cautiously through the construction zones, observe all posted speed limit and construction signs.
 

Route 1 and Route 8 Resurfacing and Route 8/Canada-Toto Loop Intersection

On Monday 11/25/2019, motorists are advised that there will be intermittent lane closures along Route 10 in Barrigada from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Taking alternate routes and/or adjusting drive times is encouraged.

On Saturday 11/30/2019, the DPW contractor will be installing pavement markers along the westbound lanes from Route 16 to Route 8. The traffic signals will not be operational during construction.

On Sunday 12/1/2019, the DPW contractor will be installing pavement markers along the westbound inner lanes from Route 16 to Route 8A. The traffic signals will not be operational during this time.

Motorists are advised to drive cautiously through the construction zones, observe all posted speed limit and construction signs. Taking alternate routes and/or adjusting drive times is encouraged.
 

Harmon Industrial Park Roadway Rehabilitation

Hawaiian Rock Products (HRP) will continue construction work on Harmon Metal Lane at Harmon Industrial Park. Motorists are advised that the road will be closed until mid-January 2020 from the former Pernix office building to the intersection of E. Harmon Industrial Park Road. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes and observe all construction signs.
