Road Safety Reminder for the Week

Use Your Headlights

  • If weather conditions require you to use your windshield wipers, you are required to turn on your low-beam headlights.
  • Any time conditions (clouds, rain, snow, dust, smoke, fog, etc.) prevent you from seeing other vehicles.
  • On small country or mountain roads, even on sunny days.
  • In darkness and when visibility does not allow clear recognition of a person or vehicle from a distance of 1,000 feet.
  • When the vehicle is operated from 30 minutes after sunset to 30 minutes before sunrise.
  • When a regulatory (white) road sign is posted stating headlights must be on.
  • To increase your vehicle’s visibility to others while driving – even on bright days and especially when the sun is low on the horizon.

Guam Construction Update

Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously through all construction zones, observe all posted speed limit and construction signs, and carefully heed to flaggers. Alternative routes and/or adjusting drive times when feasible are encouraged.

 

Route 3 Widening

Construction continues on Route 3 from Route 28 to Potts Junction. Intermittent lane closures and traffic switches may be necessary throughout the week.
 

Harmon Industrial Park Roadway Rehabilitation

Hawaiian Rock Products (HRP) will continue construction activities on Harmon Industrial Park Road. From Monday, 6/1/2020, through Sunday, 6/7/2020, there will be intermittent lane closures between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM at these locations:

  • HRP will be striping on the northbound and southbound lanes along Ilipog Drive (3-way stop) to Route 1.
  • HRP will be adjusting manholes on the eastbound and westbound lanes along Ilipog Drive (3-way) to Siket St.

 

Route 4 Malojloj Highway - Talofofo Bay (Surfside) to 76 Gas Station

DPW crews will continue stockpiling material (base course) from 7:00 am to 3:30 p.m. at designated sites between Talofofo Bay and the 76 Gas Station in Malojloj, Inarajan throughout the week as they prepare for road repairs along Route 4 Malojloj Highway.
