Road Safety Reminder for the Week

Changing Lanes:

Changing lanes includes:

  • Moving from one lane to another
  • Entering the freeway from an on-ramp
  • Entering the road from a curb or the shoulder


Before changing lanes, signal, look in all your mirrors, and:

  • Check traffic behind and beside you
  • Look over your shoulder in the direction you plan to move to make sure the lane you want is clear
  • Check for vehicles, motorcyclists, and bicycle traffic in your blind spot
  • Be sure there is enough room for your vehicle in the next lane


 

Guam Construction Update

Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously through all construction zones, observe all posted speed limit and construction signs, and carefully heed to flaggers. Alternative routes and/or adjusting drive times when feasible are encouraged.

The DPW contractor continues to work on sidewalks, curb and gutters, and guardrail relocation at Route 3. The northbound right turn only lane from Route 3 onto Route 28 will be closed. Right turns will be allowed from the thru lane.
 

Route 3 Widening

Construction activities are ongoing along Route 3 from just north of Route 28 to Potts Junction.

The DPW contractor continues to work on sidewalks, curbs and gutters, and guardrail relocation at Route 3. The northbound right turn only lane from Route 3 onto Route 28 will be closed. Right turns will be allowed from the thru lane.

Motorists are advised that one lane of Artero Road will be closed from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Monday 1/20/2020 through Friday 1/24/2020 and from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturday 1/25/2020.

Activities along Route 3 approximately 500 feet north of Artero road will require the northbound lane to shift onto the new pavement between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM throughout the week.
 

Route 1 and Route 8 Resurfacing and Route 8/Canada-Toto Loop Intersection

On Saturday 1/25/2020, the DPW contractor will be milling and paving the southbound lanes at the Route 1/8 Intersection in Agana from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Access to all businesses along this construction route will remain open.

On Sunday 1/26/2020, the DPW contractor will be milling and paving along the northeast corner at the Route 1/8 Intersection in Agana from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Access to all businesses along this construction route will remain open.

Motorists are advised that there will be lane closures and lane shifts in the area from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM on these days and to drive cautiously through the construction zones, observe all posted speed limit and construction signs. The traffic signals will not be operational during construction. Taking alternate routes and/or adjusting drive times is encouraged.
 

Harmon Industrial Park Roadway Rehabilitation

Hawaiian Rock Products (HRP) will continue construction activities on Harmon Industrial Park Road from the JL Baker office to the CalPac office. There will be intermittent lane closures on the westbound lane from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
