Traffic Advisory for the Week of February 11-17

February 08, 2019

Road Safety Reminder for the Week

TRAFFIC SIGNAL LIGHTS and what they mean:

  • A RED light means "STOP" until the green light appears.
  • A FLASHING RED light is the same as “STOP” sign. Come to a complete stop at the intersection before proceeding.
  • A YELLOW light means "WARNING" and tells you that red signal is about to appear. When you see the Yellow, you should stop your vehicle, if you can do so without danger to other cars and wait for the green light before starting.
  • A FLASHING YELLOW light means "SLOW DOWN" and proceed with caution.
  • A GREEN light means "GO", but you must allow any vehicles remaining in the intersection to go through before you make the move.
  • A GREEN ARROW permits the motorist to proceed in the indicated direction without interference from oncoming traffic.

Regardless of the traffic signal, you must always yield the right-of way to any pedestrian or other vehicles already in the intersection.

Running a red light is a violation of Guam Code Annotated (GCA) 3339B-3. The minimum fine for this violation is $80.
